Case Study: How Rubitec Built Semplice – A Compliance-Driven Time Tracking SaaS
Background
At Rubitec, we specialize in developing scalable, high-performance software solutions that solve real business problems. One of our recent projects, Semplice, was designed to help Spanish businesses comply with the new labor regulation requiring precise employee work hour tracking.
This regulation introduced strict timekeeping requirements, with companies facing over €20M in sanctions in 2024 alone for non-compliance. We recognized the need for a simple, efficient, and reliable solution that SMEs could easily integrate into their daily operations.

The Challenge
When developing Semplice, we faced two key challenges:
- Regulatory Pressure & Speed to Market
The law was already being enforced, meaning companies urgently needed a compliant time-tracking system. We had to build, test, and deploy Semplice as quickly as possible without compromising on quality or reliability. - Employee Adoption & Usability
Many existing solutions were overly complex, leading to low adoption rates among employees. If workers failed to clock in and out consistently, businesses would still be at risk of non-compliance. We needed to design an interface that was so intuitive that employees would use it daily without friction.

Our Solution
To address these challenges, we built Semplice as a cloud-based SaaS platform consisting of:
- A Web Dashboard for Employers & HR Teams
- Manage employee work hours, generate compliance reports, and oversee shift schedules.
- Built with React, ensuring a modern and responsive user experience.
- A Mobile App for Employees
- Allows workers to clock in and out with a single tap, ensuring quick and accurate time tracking.
- Developed with React Native, enabling cross-platform compatibility on iOS and Android.
- A High-Performance Backend
- Built with GoLang, providing a fast, scalable, and reliable infrastructure.
- Ensures secure data storage and seamless synchronization between web and mobile applications.
We focused heavily on UX and ease of use, ensuring that the platform remained lightweight, intuitive, and frictionless for both employers and employees.
The Results
Since launching Semplice, every company using it has reported that their employees now clock in and out daily, ensuring full compliance with Spanish labor laws. By prioritizing speed, reliability, and simplicity, we delivered a production-ready solution that businesses could start using immediately.
What’s Next?
We continue to refine Semplice, with upcoming features including:
- Time-off requests to streamline leave management.
- Basic HR functions to expand its capabilities while maintaining its lightweight, easy-to-use design.
We remain committed to keeping Semplice intuitive and efficient, avoiding feature bloat that could reduce usability.
